The competition is free to enter and will follow the Open design competition format and will be organised in the following stages:
Stage One: Submission of concept designs/thoughts which will be assessed anonymously.
Stage Two: A shortlist of five designs will be selected and teams will be invited to submit and present their developed ideas to the judging panel.
Stage One Submission Requirements
1. A Maximum of 1 x A1 Board (digital)
The board should clearly indicate in a graphical and innovative way the competitor’s ideas and thoughts on the subject matter.
The proposals should be presented in a clear and succinct manner to enable the Judging Panel members to readily understand the essence and idea behind the thoughts.
We do not, at this stage, require a hard copy of your submission board. When producing your submission, however, please note that it may be viewed on a tablet, laptop or large screen and may also be printed out at A1 for the purposes of assessment.
2. A Written Design Statement
A written design statement (maximum 2 single sides of A4) in support of the submission including:
1. Your vision for the future of the construction industry
2. How this will impact the construction/property sector in the next 40 years
3. How it could benefit the world and society at large
3. Declaration Form
A completed declaration form (download here) which should bear the competitors name and details in the dedicated section on the form. This should be signed where noted and returned with the submission.
4. One Visual Image
In addition, to the single board, one visual image of the concept should be provided for publicity purposes (this will also be used in the online gallery of all entries at the end of the competition). The image should be representative of the ideas proposed and be readily identifiable as such. The image should be submitted in JPEG format, in a low resolution (150 dpi) with an image width of at least 1000px.
Each Stage One design submission should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by 6pm on Monday 24 April 2017. The subject field of your email should read: Student Design Competition Stage 1. Please note that the total upload should not exceed 20MB.
Late entries will not be accepted and those made after the deadline will not be opened.
Five shortlisted teams will be invited to London to present their thoughts to the Judging Panel. Competitors may bring other material to enhance their entry and presentation but this will not be left with the judges.
